How to Squeak

The purpose of this site (over time) is to provide information to Smalltalk novices on how to get up to speed in Smalltalk. It was suggested by Ralph Johnson in response to my persistent questions on the Squeak mailing list about how things like change sets work. Currently, it is mostly a collection of prized mailing list notes and some small hacks that I'm working on.I suggest visiting the Downloads and Pluggable WebServer pages as the most useful stuff here right now.

Latest Stuff (1/6/99)

Most of this has really moved into the Swikis. See the To see whatGeorgia Tech Squeakers are doing and To see what the Squeakcommunity in general is doing.

Newly Updated Stuff (March 23, 1998)

Updates to Squeak 1.31 contains some new PWS and Swiki stuffFileDictionary: Tiny Squeak Database is a super-simple database for Squeak.Downloads has been updated with Nu-UI.st which improves on the old Squeak-UI.stPluggable WebServer, up to version 1.0+ and includes Server files for 1.23, 1.30, and 1.31 Squeak.Much of my Squeak activity is going to be going into my course CS2390 Modeling and Design in the Winter '98 quarter. You can find the course homepage at http://www.cc.gatech.edu/classes/cs2390_98_winter/ and the course Swiki at http://pbl.cc.gatech.edu:8080/cs2390.Useful Squeak SitesThe Squeak at UIUC Site is really the home of Squeak these days.I really like Ward Cunningham's Squeak Wiki site: http://c2.com:8080/Great Squeak Tutorial: http://www.cosc.canterbury.ac.nz/~wolfgang/cosc205/smalltalk1.html
