Attached Thumbnails M1 Fixed Line Broadband requires login and other related problems Link Posted on 11/21/2008 @ 06:35 PM M1 Fixed Broadband requires login and other issuesFor users who are shopping for a new broadband provider, you might have across M1 Fixed Broadband, the new kid on the block that provides the lowest no frills 10mbps plan for only $43 (or $40 if you are a M1 mobile subscriber). This Fixed Line Broadband service rides on the existing Starhub Cable infrastructure and uses the same compatible Motorola Broadband modems for connection. While Starhub users just plug in, update their MAC address of their broadband modem with the operator, M1 is slightly different from Starhub. If you have used the Starhub Maxonline Surf by the Day, you would have notice that you need to login. M1 does the same thing ! In short, everytime you need to surf the net, you are prompted with username and password to fill in. After which you will be logoff automatically 24 hours, probably the same time for your DNS service to complete it's lease period of your IP address.Users of another of their service, the M1 broadband (HSPA) faced another problem, that is, images are probably compressed and only when you move your mouse over the image, the image will load up beautifully. This is probably injected code to reduce bandwidth usage on their network. Some users also had problems logging into MSN messenger at night. The good news is that both Wired and Wireless plans do not block BT. Those who download Linux distribution or other legal materials over the net would be happy about this. I am sure it will block it as more and more people download illegal movies over their network. XFX delivers Intel chipset mainboard XG3li based on Intel G31 chipset Link Posted on 11/19/2008 @ 07:22 PM Long time partner of Nx seems to have gone the Intel way with it's first board released that is powered by Intel G31 chipset. November 17, 2008 – Getting the best doesn’t have to mean paying a lot, and that’s especially true with the XFX’s Intel chipset-based motherboard—the XG3li motherboard. Offering exceptional performance for the true budget conscious user, this motherboard is built with affordability, performance and reliability in mind.Built to support Intel LGA 775 processors, the XG3li can support up to 4GB of dual channel DDR2 800 MHz SDRAM, delivering up to 12.8 GB/s (DDR2 800 dual 6.4GB/s) of bandwidth and 4GB memory addressability to increase system responsiveness and support for 64-bit computing. The XFX XG3li motherboard supports up to a 1333 MHz front side bus. Performance is further enhanced with Intel-exclusive features including Intel® Fast Memory Access, which improve system performance by optimizing the use of available memory bandwidth and reduces the latency of the memory access. Additionally, Intel® Flex Memory Technology enables easier upgrades by allowing different memory sizes to be populated and remain in dual-channel mode. And, the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 helps pop frame rates and enhance the user experience, a feature especially noticeable when using Windows Vista. Attached Thumbnails ECS A780GM-A Ultra 780G board has GPU core upper range up to 2000MHz Link Posted on 11/19/2008 @ 07:10 PM AMD 780G boards aren't new as it was released earlier this year. What is new about the ECS A780GM-A Ultra is that this 780G board is paired up with the the new South bridge SB 750. This adds in some new features to the old North bridge 780G. e.g. RAID 5, AMD overdrive support thru SB750. On top of that, ECS ensures this board works with 160W processors. The BIOS is also improved. One of the most shocking option we come across is that the GPU CLK has a window, allowing one to tune it all the way to 2GHz (default 500MHz). Below is a screens shot. Will it be able to break the 900MHz limit (on most 780G board) ? Stay tuned.
